New WMS System

March 8, 2011

To Our Valued Customers,

In the last ten years Dean Warehouse has been committed to providing Integration Technology with its Customers to streamline processing and increase accuracy.  Integration is an oft-maligned entity. Although many of Dean's Customers utilize our integration with some type of external system (e.g. financial) either at the local or enterprise level, the way data exchange is accomplished can sometimes be a highly contested process. We still experience receiving data the "old fashion way" - text files, emails, spread sheets, etc..

It seems as though every few years a new technology comes along and promises to revolutionize the way we do business. We all have seen the endless supply of proclamations of RFID and its impact on our lives. We've also seen the promises about new technology and how systems will integrate to each other.

Years ago, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) was proclaimed to be the "new frontier" for doing business integration. Unfortunately, the cost of implementing EDI was and continues to be prohibitive for many companies. Extensible Markup Language (XML) came along in recent years and promised to provide even more functionality than EDI but at a lower price.

Despite all the hype around EDI and XML, Dean's experience has been that these integration methodologies have not found industry wide adoption that was promised.

With that being said, our continued effort to support and serve global companies with state of the art technology, Dean is pleased to announce the purchase of a new WMS and Integration System, called Synapse which was created by Zethcon utilizing an Oracle Data Base.

The benefits are far more reaching than our current Integration System and offers, the flexibility Dean needs to keep up with the technology demand from the retail business sector and the necessary speed for EDI transactions, as well as increased automation for all types of integration.  I have enclosed materials that outline the capabilities of Synapse and just to mention a few benefits, increased speed for reporting inventory, work flow automation and KPI automated reporting and analysis through RF technology, custom web options for reporting, advanced Microsoft compatibility and improved system integration for our operations in California.

We will begin converting to this new system starting next week and will be calling each of you to discuss transition planning (for those that utilize integration). I want assure each of you that this transition will have little or no impact to your business IT resources and will only improve Dean's ability to serve you and your customers.

For those of you who do not currently utilize the Integration this would be a great time to consider the overall benefits that this will provide to your business.

On behalf of the entire Dean Organization, I want to thank you for the continued opportunity to serve your business needs, and we look forward to working with all of you this year.

Best Regards,

Gregory Foreman
